Hydrocarbon phase behavior

Applications for Improved Reservoir Modeling [Tarek Ahmed] This title covers a wide range of topics related to the Pressure Volume Temperature (PVT) behaviour of complex hydrocarbon systems and documents the ability of Equations of State (EOS) in modelling their behaviour. The main objective of this book is to provide the practising engineer and engineering student with tools needed to solve problems that require a description of the PVT of hydrocarbon systems from their compositions. Because of the dramatic evolution in computational capabilities, petroleum engineers can now study such phenomena as the development of miscibility during gas injection, compositional gradient as a function of depth and the behaviour near critical hydrocarbon systems with more sophisticated EOS models.

Fundamentals of gas natural processing

To help the reader understand the need of each processing step, the book follows the gas stream from the wellhead to the market place. The book focuses primarily on the gas plant processes. Wherever possible, the advantages, limitations, and ranges of applicability of the processes are discussed so that their selection and integration into the overall gas plant can be fully understood and appreciated.

The book compiles information from other books, open literature, and meeting proceedings** to hopefully give an accurate picture of where the gas processing technology stands today, as well as indicate some relatively new technologies that could become important in the future. An invaluable contribution to the book is the insight provided to the authors by experts in certain applications.

GPSA. Gas processing

The Gas Processors Suppliers Association is an organization of companies with specialized knowledge of the supply and service needs of the gas processing and related industries. A major service to them is embodied in the Engineering Data Book, which was first published in 1935. Over 150,000 copies of the Ninth, Tenth, and Eleventh Editions of the book wer distributed for use throughout the world by engineers, operating personnel, and students. The Twelfth Edition of the Engineering Data Book, available in two versions — FPS and SI — is an attempt to assemble, in a single compilation, basic design information together  with data and procedures that can be used by field and plant engineers to determine operating and design parameters. It is also intended as an aid to design engineers who, in spite of increasing availability of computer routines and other sophisticated design methods, require a general reference work as  guide to accepted engineering practice for estimating, feasibility studies, preliminary design, and for making on-site operating decisions.  The loose-leaf format of the Data Book permits periodic updating to meet the changing technology of the process industries.

Natural Gas Engineering Handbook

It is well recognized that the nineteenth century was a century of coal that supported the initiation of industrial revolution in Europe. The twentieth century was the century of oil that was the primary energy source to support the growth of global economy. The demand of the world's economy for energy is ever increasing. The energy disruptions should be a genuine concern. It will likely cause chronic energy shortage as early as 2010. It will eventually evolve into a serious energy crunch. The way to avoid such a crunch is to expand energy supply and move from oil to natural gas and, eventually, to hydrogen. Natural gas is the only fuel that is superior to other energy sources in economic attractiveness and environmental concerns. At the end of the last century, natural gas took over the position of coal as the number two energy source behind oil. In 2000, total world energy consumption was slightly below 400 quadrillion (1015) Btu. Of this, oil accounted for 39 percent, while natural gas and coal provided 23 percent and 22 percent, respectively. It is a historical imperative that the transition from oil to natural must be made in the early twenty-first century. This is not only motivated by environmental considerations but also technological innovations and refinements.

Natural gas. A basic Handbook

Natural gas (also called marsh gas and swamp gas in older texts and more recently ZandfiZZ gas) is a gaseous fossil fuel found in oil fields, natural gas fields, and coal beds. As one of the cleanest, safest, and most useful of all energy sources, it is a vital component of the world’s supply of energy. While it is  grouped in with other fossil fuels and sources of energy, there are many characteristics of natural gas that make it unique.

Petroleum engineering. Principles and practice

The need for this book has arisen from demand for a current text from our students in Petroleum Engineering at Imperial College and from post-experience Short Course students. It is, however, hoped that the material will also be of more general use to practising petroleum engineers and those wishing for aa introduction into the specialist literature.

The book is arranged to provide both background and overview into many facets of petroleum engineering, particularly as practised in the offshore environments of North-West Europe. The material is largely based on the authors' experience as teachers and consultants and  supplemented by worked problems where they are believed to enhance understanding.

The authors would like to express their sincere thanks and appreciation to all the people who have helped in the preparation of this book by technical comment and discussion and by giving permission to reproduce material. In particular we would like to thank our present colleagues and students at Imperial College and at ERC Energy Resource Consultants Ltd. for their stimulating company, Jill and Jane1 for typing seemingly endless manuscripts; Dan Smith at Graham and Trotman Ltd. for his perseverence and optimism; and Lesley and Joan for believing that one day things would return to normality.

Stamdar Handbook of petroleum and natural gas engineering

Several objectives guided the preparation of this second edition of the Standard Handbook of Petroleum and Natural Gas Engineering. As in the first edition, the first objective in this edition was to continue the effort to create for the worldwide petroleum and natural gas exploration and production industries an engineering handbook written in the spirit of the classic handbooks of the other important engineering disciplines. This new edition reflects the importance of these industries to the modern world economies and the importance of the engineers and technicians that serve these industries. The second objective of this edition was to utilize, nearly exclusively, practicing engineers in industry to carry out the reviews, revisions, and any re-writes of first edition material for the new second edition. The third objective was, of course, to update the information of the old edition and to make the new edition more SI friendly. The fourth objective was to unite the previous two volumes of the first edition into a single volume that could be available in both book and CD form. The fifth and final objective of the handbook was to maintain and enhance the first edition objective of having a publication that could be read and understood by any up-to-date engineer or technician, regardless of discipline.
